Romanian caroling traditions, known as "colinde," date back to pre-Christian times. These songs carry ancient wishes for prosperity and good fortune, blending with Christian traditions over centuries.
One of the most beloved traditions is "Steaua" (The Star), where children carry a decorated star and sing special carols about the Star of Bethlehem and the Three Wise Men.
Carolers are traditionally rewarded with special Christmas treats like cozonac (sweet bread), nuts, apples, and in modern times, small amounts of money for their good wishes.
